This is a list of early upgrades you should do to your baja. Remember that the upgrade possibilities are almost endless, but these should get you off to a good start.
Front-end
Lift front-end
Install adjusters or cut and turn
A set of Sway Away springs will also add to the lift and make the front-end stiffer.
There are now long travel ball joints available for your late models.
Ball joint user can also get up to 3in. raised spindles.
Remove stock suspension stops
To increase wheel travel
Replace them with limiting straps
Strengthened tie rods
After market or buy chrome moly tubing that just fits over the stock rod and weld it in place
Reinforce steering knuckles
Kits are available
Urethane bushings in front torsion tubes
Long travel shock tower kit
Rear-end
Raise the rear torsion
Solid trans mount kit
Rear skid plate
Convert to bus CVs for more susp. travel (IRS)

Bumpers
Quick shifter
Reverse lighting
CB radio
Engine mods
almost unlimited
Up to 1835cc is quite reliable and can be built very stout.
Performance cam shaft; depends on driving style talk to your supplier
I prefer lower RPM power for off road.
8 Dowel crankshaft
Ported heads
Header
High volume oil pump
Scat deep sump oil pick up
Swivle feet valve adjusters
Oil cooler and filter kit
Alternator kit
Dual carbs are nice, but not necessary until you can afford them
Do not waste your money on a progressive carb. They are of no bennefit.
Tires
Larger tires
Rears, up to 11.00-15 LTs or 31x11-15s anything larger and you will need a hefty power plant.
Fronts, 7.00x15's, but only if you have reinforced your steering components. Otherwise your asking for trouble.
